How to make a UPI QR code
- Enter your UPI ID (also called a VPA), which looks like name@bank. You can find it in your UPI app's profile.
- Enter the payee name exactly as you want the payer to see it.
- Optionally add an amount in rupees and a short note (up to 50 characters). Leave the amount empty to let the payer type it.
- Download the code, scan it with your own UPI app, and confirm the name and details shown are correct.
Fixed amount or any amount
A code with an amount is right for a single price, like one item or an invoice. A code without one is reusable, so the payer decides what to pay. Amounts are in Indian rupees.
Check the UPI ID before you print
A single mistyped character in the UPI ID sends payments to a different person. Scanning the finished code with your own UPI app is the quickest check, because it shows the name attached to that ID.
Personal and business use
This creates a standard UPI payment code from your own ID. Businesses that collect many payments often use a merchant QR issued by their bank or payment provider, and the rules can differ, so check with your bank if you are collecting money for a business.
How the code is built
It is a plain UPI payment link (upi://pay) containing your ID, name, and optional amount, currency and note. Because it is an open format, the code does not depend on this site.
Frequently asked questions
Which apps can scan a UPI QR code?
UPI apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and BHIM read the standard payment link. Availability of specific features can vary by app.
Will the payer see my name?
They will see the payee name you enter, along with the details from their own bank app.
Does the code expire?
No. It contains your details directly. It keeps working as long as your UPI ID does.
