How to make a PIX QR code
- Enter your PIX key exactly as it is registered: a CPF or CNPJ, an email, a phone number, or a random key.
- Enter the recipient name (up to 25 characters) and city (up to 15). Bank apps show these to the payer, so use your real name.
- Optionally add an amount in reais and a transaction ID. Leave the amount empty to let the payer type it.
- Download the code and make a small test payment to confirm it reaches the right account.
What is in a BR Code
It is the EMVCo merchant-presented format with the Banco Central template: the fixed identifier br.gov.bcb.pix, your PIX key, the currency code for the real (986), the country BR, your name and city, an optional amount and transaction ID, and a CRC-16 checksum.
Static codes and dynamic charges
This makes a static code tied to your key, which is ideal for a shop counter, a tip jar or a donation page. If you need a unique charge for every order, with payment tracking, your bank or payment provider issues dynamic PIX codes through its own service.
Enter the key exactly as registered
A phone key is stored with the country code and area code, in the form +55 followed by the number. Copy the key from your bank app rather than retyping it. The money goes to whichever account the key is registered to.

Will every Brazilian bank app read it?
The code follows the published BR Code standard, which PIX apps are built to read. As with any payment code, make a small test payment before you print it.
What if I do not add an amount?
The code is reusable and the payer types the amount, which suits a shop counter or a tip jar.
