Here's what you need to know about Sholobit QR, based on the questions we get asked the most.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every static QR code you make here is free to create and download, including the SVG. There is no watermark, no trial and no account.
Do my QR codes expire?
No. A static code contains your information itself, not a link to our servers, so nothing has to stay online for it to keep working. Even if this site disappeared, codes you already made would still scan.
What is the scan test?
After every change, the code is drawn at four sizes and read back by an independent decoder. If it fails at any size, or the colours are too close together, you get a message that says what to fix.
It cannot replace scanning a printed proof with the phones your audience actually uses, so do that too before a big print run.
Do I need an account?
No. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere — the code is built in your browser. That is also why there is nothing to log in to.
What is the difference between static and dynamic codes?
A static code holds the data directly. A dynamic code holds a short link that redirects, so the destination can be edited later and scans can be counted, at the cost of needing a server. We only offer static codes today.
What size should I print my QR code?
The scan test reports the smallest print size that decoded reliably. As a rule of thumb, use at least 2 cm on a side and keep the white border around the code; more data means a denser code that needs more room.
Can I add my logo?
Yes — upload one or pick a built-in mark. Adding a logo switches error correction to the highest level and caps the logo at 25% of the code so it still scans.
Can I use the codes commercially?
Yes. The codes are yours to use on packaging, menus, posters and anything else. QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.
How do payment codes (Bangla QR, UPI, PIX) work?
UPI and PIX codes follow the formats their operators publish, including the checksums, so UPI and PIX apps can read them. Bangla QR uses the same EMVCo merchant format, but the merchant identifiers are issued by your bank or payment provider — enter exactly what they gave you, and make a small test payment before printing.
